Hello!

Welcome to "Breaking the Good Girl Code: How Women Can Stop Self-Sabotaging and Start Leading."

Breaking the Good Girl Code isn’t just another newsletter — it’s a revolution.

If you’re tired of playing small, over-apologizing, and putting everyone else’s needs ahead of your own, this is for you.

We’re diving deep into the hidden patterns of self-sabotage that hold women back, unraveling the myths that keep us stuck, and charting a bold new path toward authentic leadership.

It’s time to rewrite the rules — on your own terms.

Ready to step into your power? Let’s go!

💃 Poison Ivy Made Me Do It ...

It started with an innocent weekend project, building a new fire pit — my brilliant idea to get fresh air, reconnect with nature, and recharge.

I was feeling GOOD.
I was feeling HAPPY.

Nature, however, had a different kind of recharge in mind ...

It started with a suspicious itch.

Then came the unmistakable redness.

The kind where you know immediately, "Ohhh NOOOO, poison ivy!" my weekend souvenir ...

Now, Monday morning ...
Pants?
Suddenly, they're my sworn enemy.
Every pair of trousers felt like sandpaper straight outa hell.
Absolute torture. If fabric even grazes my legs, I LOSE IT. I turn into a certifiable LOON!

So, in a moment of itchy desperation, dresses and skirts became my everyday superhero cape.
Flowy.
Soft.
And surprisingly POWERFUL.

And that's the exact moment I had an epiphany:
Why on earth have I been squeezing myself into pantsuits I don't even LIKE?!

So, for two weeks now, I've strutted into meetings feeling unapologetically ME — poison ivy scars and all — instead of hiding behind structured suits and corporate armor.
And something WILD happened:
My confidence SKYROCKETED.
People took notice.
Conversations shifted.

Because here's the truth:
When I wear outfits I actually LOVE, I feel unstoppable.
Sexy. Powerful. Completely MYSELF.
My energy shifts entirely.

Clothes aren't just fabric covering our bodies.
They're ENERGY.
They're SELF-EXPRESSION.
They're how we step fully into our authenticity and power.

REAL power dressing isn't about conformity — it's about authenticity.

So, here's my bold invitation to YOU:
This week, choose one day to wear something you've secretly been dying to rock — but haven't dared yet.
That fierce red lipstick (my personal go to fav).
Those incredible shoes you bought but never wore.
The bold necklace you think is "too much" (hint: it's NOT).

Wear it.
Own it.
Feel the magic happen.

Forget what's expected, what's comfortable for others, or what's labeled "professional."
Notice the shift in your energy.
Watch your leadership presence SHINE.

Because when you choose YOURSELF, you give others permission to do the same.

And THAT, my friend, is what authentic leadership is all about.

(And seriously, watch out for poison ivy ... unless you need a style awakening too. 😉)

👠 What NOT to Wear (Unless You Really Want To)

Funny how a little unwanted rash can lead to a big, juicy revelation:

Choosing dresses these last two weeks reminded me how INCREDIBLY POWERFUL it feels to dress in alignment with MY energy.
Not the office rulebook.
Not the boys’ club expectations.
But ME.

Let’s get something straight right now.
Power dressing does NOT equal masculine, boxy suits and stiff collars.
Leadership attire does NOT mean covering up your curves or hiding your femininity.
And NO, you don’t need shoulder pads or trousers to command respect in the room (cue collective sigh of relief!).

Real leadership?
It means stepping into YOUR SKIN with fierce authenticity.
It means showing up in the clothes that make YOU feel vibrant, confident, and — dare I say it? — SEXY (btw, 'sexy' can have sooo many meanings; it does NOT have to mean things are on display 🫣).

Who else is TIRED of hearing the same old "wardrobe rules" for women in leadership?

🚫 Wear a structured suit.
🚫 Stick to neutral colors.
🚫 No bare arms — ever.
🚫 Heels — but not too high.
🚫 Smile, but don't look too sweet.
🚫 Oh, and definitely, definitely NO vibrant lipstick (I love to break this rule!).

SERIOUSLY?!
ENOUGH ALREADY.

I vividly remember my first day in corporate.
I caved.
Bought the stiffest, most BORING gray pantsuit ever.
Buttoned that jacket up to my chin like a damn collar ruffle, thinking it would magically make me feel powerful.

Spoiler alert:
It didn't.

Instead, I spent the entire day feeling itchy, uncomfortable, and completely disconnected from myself.
I wasn't leading — I was pretending.
And pretending SUCKS.

The truth?
Confidence doesn't come from an outfit.
It comes from wearing what makes YOU feel unstoppable — whether that's a killer skirt, a flowy maxi dress, or jeans with your favorite bold blazer and red lipstick.

Bottom line:
Your wardrobe, your rules.

It's time to toss those outdated power-dressing myths in the trash — right alongside my itchy, miserable gray pantsuit.

Also, nothing made me happier than the day I got rid of all my clickity clackity death threat shoes — I don't need 4" spikes to roll my ankle, I can do that just fine on my own, thank you very much.

Here's how you can make the shift now:

  • Check in with yourself. Before you dress, ask: "Does this outfit make me feel badass?" If it's not a YES, change it.
  • Challenge assumptions. Who says you can't lead a boardroom in a floral dress and bright lipstick? Your AUTHENTICITY is your superpower.
  • Trust your gut. Your intuition knows what makes you feel unstoppable. LISTEN to it and your confidence will follow.

Think of ONE style rule you've been blindly following.
Something that feels restrictive.
Something that drains your sparkle.
Got it?
GOOD.

Now — I dare you — JOYFULLY BREAK IT.
Wear red lipstick to that meeting.
Trade those pumps for sneakers (I see sooo many people in corporate wearing sneakers now!)
Or rock that bold print you secretly adore but feel "isn't professional enough" (spoiler alert: it is).

Your inner queen is waiting.

Think sequins, prints, bold accessories, and an unapologetic attitude.

Because let's face it:
When you dress authentically, your confidence speaks before you even open your mouth.

Here's why your personal style is your secret leadership weapon:

  • Authenticity Attracts: People connect naturally with REALNESS, not corporate masks.
  • Clarity in Branding: Your unique wardrobe choices reinforce your personal brand and professional identity.
  • Confidence Boost: When you feel powerful, comfortable, and sexy in what you're wearing, you radiate AUTHENTIC CONFIDENCE.

Now, I'm handing the mic to YOU. 🎤

Hit reply, and share your favorite AUTHENTIC STYLE moment.

Maybe it was that bright pink blazer you wore during a critical meeting.

Or those killer boots that made you feel unstoppable.

Let's inspire each other to show up BOLD, REAL, and UNAPOLOGETICALLY CONFIDENT.

👗 POWER MOVES: Why Authentic Beats Suited EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Whoever said "dress for the job you want" clearly assumed we all wanted the same damn job.

Spoiler alert: WE DON'T.

Nothing grinds my gears more than the outdated stigma that women MUST wear stiff, boring suits just to prove we belong at the big-kids' leadership table.

Let me be crystal clear:
You don't need shoulder pads and navy blazers to command a room.
Period.

One of my clients, Andrea, used to dread presentations.
Not because she didn't know her stuff — this woman was SHARP.
But every time she put on that gray suit, she felt invisible.
Small.
Not like herself AT ALL.

One day, she finally said, "SCREW IT," and wore her favorite dress paired with bold red lipstick.

And guess what?
It wasn't just her look that popped — it was her CONFIDENCE.
She led that meeting effortlessly.
No more blending in; she owned the room because she first owned HERSELF.

Confidence isn't found in conformity, it's UNLOCKED by authenticity.

Ready to ditch the suit and step into your own authentic self?

Here are 3 quick tips to identify what feels genuinely empowering to YOU:

  • Pay attention to your ENERGY. Notice which outfits give you that extra pep in your step. Effortlessly energized? THAT'S your power outfit vibe.

  • Experiment boldly. Choose something you've secretly admired but never dared to wear professionally. Maybe it’s color, maybe it's comfort — either way, TRY IT. See how it shifts your energy.
  • Trust your gut, not the dress code. Forget arbitrary standards. If something lights YOU up, wear it unapologetically. Your confidence speaks volumes louder than any dress code memo EVER could (of course, keep it PG).

Because real leadership isn't suit-deep — it's SOUL-deep.

🌺 Style Scars: Poison Ivy and Leadership ...

Here’s the deal:

Thanks to one unfortunate run-in with a deceptively cute leafy plant last weekend, pants have officially been off the table for the last two weeks.

I mean, unless I want to spend meetings wishing I could RIP MY SKIN OFF.

Instead, I'm rocking dresses and skirts every single day.
And guess what?
I'm feeling freer, more confident, and more MYSELF than I have in ages.

Funny how life delivers insights, right?
Here's the kicker — this itchy, scratchy, poison ivy fiasco actually made me realize how often we women willingly endure discomfort for the sake of fitting into someone else's idea of "appropriate."

We squeeze ourselves into tight suits, itchy blouses, stiff jackets — because that's what we're told leadership LOOKS LIKE.
But at what cost?
Our comfort.
Our confidence.
Our AUTHENTICITY.

Here's my challenge for you this week:
Notice those moments when what you're wearing feels like poison ivy pants — constricting, uncomfortable, NOT YOU.

And then, pivot.
Choose what makes YOU feel powerful.
What makes you feel COMFORTABLE.
What makes you feel authentically YOU.

Because leadership isn't about suits or stilettos.
It's about how confidently you show up as YOURSELF.

When we wear what we truly love, we radiate authenticity.
We move differently.
Speak differently.
We become magnetic.
That kind of self-confidence transforms how we lead.
It changes perceptions about us — and more importantly — how we perceive ourselves. 🌟

Let's get real:
Are you following outdated fashion "rules" that hold you back?
Time to investigate.
Grab a pen and paper (yes, old-school!) and jot down these two questions:

  • What's ONE style "rule" you follow only because it's expected of you?
  • If there were zero judgment, what's ONE thing you'd wear tomorrow to feel powerful, sexy, and fully YOU?
